Latest Version of iPad Recording Interface Boasts new Features, Improved Performance
Cumberland, RI (October 24, 2014)— Alesis (www.alesis.com), the world’s leading manufacturer of electronic instruments and tools for today’s musician, today announced that the Alesis iO Dock II has been nominated for a 30th Annual Technical Excellence & Creativity (TEC) Award. The prestigious TEC Awards were established in 1985 to honor outstanding achievement in professional audio production and product innovation.
The Alesis iO Dock II is the most seamless way to equip any iPad for recording and live performance. iO Dock II is the latest version of the company’s hugely popular and successful iO Dock. This latest version is even more capable than its predecessor, and it now adds support for both Lightning and 30-pin iPads via interchangeable connectors. The updated placement of these connectors also allows for a more stable and secure connection to the iPad.
The iO Dock II features two combo XLR-1/4-inch inputs for use with both instruments and microphones, and it also includes switchable phantom power for use with professional condenser microphones. A significant upgrade of the new iO Dock II is the improved high-impedance guitar input which provides extremely accurate recording of guitars and bass guitars. For audio outputs, the iO Dock II has a stereo pair of 1/4″ outputs and a ¼” headphone output, each with their own independent volume controls. To assure uncompromised audio during recording and playback, iO Dock II features built-in professional-quality 24-bit converters.
The iO Dock II also has a versatile set of MIDI connections, including 5-pin MIDI In/Out jacks and a USB MIDI port for connection to a Mac or PC. Sending and receiving SysEx messages is now fully supported, so users can now integrate their iPad with advanced external MIDI hardware setups.
“We wanted to give artists a more flexible, easier-to-use, better-sounding solution for recording on their iPad. The Alesis iO Dock II fulfills that need with a great combination of simplicity and professional performance. We expect the iO Dock II will be even more popular than the original,” said Walter Skorupski, Project Manager for Alesis.
Hundreds of entries for nomination were reviewed and voted upon by an extensive panel of veteran sound and music industry professionals in the U.S. and abroad, according to NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants), the sponsor of the awards. The winners will be determined by online subscribers to Mix, Pro Sound News, Pro Audio Review, Electronic Musician, and members of professional audio and sound production organizations through online voting, which will take place this December.
The winners of the 30th Annual TEC Awards will be announced on Saturday evening, January 24, 2015 at the Anaheim Hilton during the NAMM Show.
The Alesis iO Dock II is available now from musical instrument and pro audio retailers.
